Solar Eclipse Sky watching Programme at KISS

Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences in collaboration with Samant Chandra Sekher Amateur Astronomers Association organized the Solar Eclipse Programme at KISS on15th January, 2010. In this regard, scientists from the Institute of Physics, Utkal University Physics Dept. and Retd. Scientists of DRDO interacted with the students, teachers and public.

Students of KISS carried telescopes and filters to understand this celestial phenomenon. They also photographed the solar eclipse and studied animal and plant behaviour during the eclipse. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Sun and the Earth so that the Sun is fully or partially covered. This can only happen during a new moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction as seen from the Earth.
